Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers, clear language. No hype – just what you need to know about preserving your fibroblasts.
Who are we?
Cellast is a biotechnology company dedicated to preserving your skin’s youngest and most active cells today, so they can be used in the future for personalised rejuvenation treatments. We operate a controlled laboratory process to expand and cryopreserve fibroblasts – the cells responsible for collagen, elastin, and youthful skin structure.
What does Cellast offer?
We provide a one-time service that collects tiny skin samples, grows your fibroblasts in a controlled environment, and stores them in liquid nitrogen at –196 °C, where biological aging effectively stops. Your preserved cells can later be used in emerging personalised skin rejuvenation therapies.
Who is this for?
Anyone who wants to protect their future skin health and keep a reserve of their own young cells. Most clients are between 18–45, but the core idea is simple: if you want your future self to have access to younger fibroblasts than your chronological age, this is for you.
Why would someone preserve their cells now?
Fibroblasts lose activity and accumulate damage as you age. By your mid-20s, collagen production starts dropping gradually every year. Preserving cells at a younger age (often 18–35) captures your maximum biological potential while your fibroblasts are still at their peak.
What is the full Cellast process?
- Skin sampling: tiny 2 mm punch sample taken behind the ear.
- Cell expansion: your fibroblasts are grown safely in controlled flasks over several passages.
- Cryopreservation: cells are frozen at –196 °C in multiple vials.
- Storage: your cells are kept long-term in dedicated liquid nitrogen systems.
- Future use: when appropriate procedures are licensed, your cells may be expanded and reinjected for personalised rejuvenation.
How is the skin sampling performed?
A trained clinical practitioner takes a 2 mm skin sample (about the size of a pen tip) from behind the ear using a dermatological punch. This area heals very well and usually leaves minimal or invisible marks.
Is the skin sampling safe?
Yes. A 2 mm skin sample is considered a minor dermatological procedure. It takes only a few minutes, and long-term complications are extremely rare. We work with trained clinicians and follow strict protocols.
Does it hurt?
You receive local anaesthesia, so the procedure is usually painless. Most people describe a brief pressure sensation rather than pain. After the anaesthetic wears off, discomfort is typically mild and short-lived.
How long does the appointment take?
The actual sampling takes about 2–3 minutes. Including check-in, consent, and aftercare instructions, the entire visit generally takes under 10 minutes.
How long does the sampling site take to heal?
Healing is usually quick:
- 3–5 days for the surface to close.
- 10–14 days for full cosmetic healing in most people.
Where exactly is the sample taken from?
From a discreet spot behind the ear, chosen because:
- It heals beautifully and tends to scar very little.
- The skin is rich in high-quality fibroblasts.
- It is not visible in day-to-day life.
What happens after my sample is taken?
Your sample is transported to our laboratory, where:
- Fibroblasts are isolated from the tissue.
- Cells are expanded over 2–3 passages in controlled flasks.
- Approximately 8–10 cryovials are prepared.
- Each vial contains enough cells to be expanded again in the future.
What is the target number of cells you preserve?
We aim to create around 8–10 vials, each containing roughly 2 million fibroblasts. In the future, each vial can be expanded into tens of millions of cells for a treatment cycle.
What is the Founders Circle?
The Founders Circle is our first limited group of early clients (100 places only) who receive:
- Founders price with a large discount vs expected future pricing.
- Priority booking.
- A second skin sample later at no additional cost (between 9 and 18 months from the first sample).
- Early access to updates and developments.
- Lifetime Founder status.
What is the status of reinjection therapy today?
Autologous fibroblast reinjection is already a reality in some jurisdictions. For example, an FDA-cleared treatment (azficel-T / LaViv) in the United States used a person’s own fibroblasts for wrinkle treatment. In the UK and Europe, regulatory pathways for personalised fibroblast therapies are still developing.
Cellast focuses on preserving your cells now so that you are ready when the next generation of rejuvenation procedures becomes widely approved.

When will reinjection become available through Cellast?
There is no fixed date. The timeline depends on regulatory progress and the pace at which personalised cell therapies are approved in the UK and Europe. However, fibroblast-based treatments are already used elsewhere, so this is not science fiction – it is a growing field.
Our role is to make sure your young cells are safely preserved so that when the treatments you want become available, your fibroblasts are ready.

How much will future rejuvenation treatments cost?
Pricing will depend on several factors:
- The amount of expansion needed.
- Future regulatory requirements and clinic overhead.
- The exact treatment protocol and number of sessions.
Do Founders get a discount on future treatments?
Yes. Founders Circle members are intended to receive:
- Preferential pricing on reinjection services.
- Priority access once treatments begin.
- Exclusive offers and communication as part of their lifetime Founder status.
How long will my cells stay preserved?
At –196 °C in liquid nitrogen, biological time is effectively paused. Cells can remain viable for decades without measurable loss of quality, provided storage conditions are maintained correctly.
Is my payment safe and is the process transparent?
Founders receive:
- Clear receipts and confirmation emails.
- Transparent descriptions of each process step.
- Updates as your sample moves through culture and storage.
- A second skin sample later at no additional cost (for Founders).
- Progress tracking through your online account (as features roll out).
When can I book my appointment?
Founder appointments will begin shortly after the first cohort and clinic partnerships are fully scheduled. As a Founder, you’ll receive priority access to available slots, and you can book directly through your Cellast account once dates open.
